Finally a TR that had Prime Rib for me! Service was a little slow, and they "forgot" about us and we ended up waiting 10 extra minutes for a table, after they sat multiple other groups. That was the only complaint, the food was great. Left feeling super full. Prime Rib, creamy horseradish, and mushrooms....yum!

The more Dukes you drink, the better it gets. Order your meat one level higher in terms of how you like it cooked. Their medium rare is rare, medium is medium rare, etc... I have a soft spot for chains that don't mind me stuffing my face with unlimited rolls, throwing peanut shells all over the floor, drinking far too many Dukes, and that play country gold on the radio.

This is such a fun place. Very relaxed. Buckets of peanuts around for munching. Great bar--flat screens around, with sports on. The bartender was terrific. The rolls are addictive. The dinner salad was fresh and delicious. The blue cheese dressing was very good. It was served on a chilled plate. The salmon was good (and like another reviewer said, a little salty). The baked potato was definitely salty, but good otherwise. I loved the peach margarita. It was perfect, so good.

My wife and I stopped in here for dinner while on a short shopping trip. The atmosphere was nice and so was our waitress. Very friendly and helpful. We ordered the bone in rib-eye with a side of steamed veggies and a baked potato, the garlic shrimp appetizer as well as a fried dill pickle appetizer. The rib-eye was ordered medium but came out medium rare. I don't mind medium rare, but it was still a little stringy and hard to cut. The flavor was very good. The carrots in the steamed veggies were still hard. The broccoli was good. The seasoning on the garlic shrimp was very overpowering. Not sure if it was spices or garlic that was choking us. They allow smoking in the bar area (which we had to walk past to be seated) and there were no walls separating that area from the non-smoking section. So even though we were in the non-smoking section, we could smell cigarette smoke.

Probably the best grilled salmon I've eaten in years. Cooked to perfection, moist and flaky. The seasonal veggies weren't also delicious but the carrots were only dipped in hot water I think. That was fine with me as I love raw carrots. The broccoli was cooked just right with enough crunch and flavor. The bread is my nemesis. I ate the two hot buttery dinner Rolls with gusto. Then the bartender brought more which I quickly asked him to remove from my sight. Man can not live on bread alone but I had my entrée coming shortly. Very good place to dine if you don't mind Peanut shells on the floor and lackluster attention from the hostesses.

always heard good things so i tried it and was not disapointed. I went there saturday night around 8:30pm and there was a 10 min wait but i did not mind. I was promptly seated and i ordered the bacon cheeseburger and deep fried pickles as an appetizer for the party. They were quite salty but plentiful for the price. They serve awesome rolls and they also have pales of peanuts, but dont worry about shells just throw the shells on the floor! the burger was quite good and huge! I was stuffed after it for a good price of 11 dollars. Give this place a try great food for a decent price!

Such salty food. The salty fatty food here cannot be good for anyone. Everything was fine until we got the fried pickles. How salty can a fried pickle be? Eating anything here is like sucking on a salt lick. The "NY Strip" was paper thin (med-rare as best they could get it) fatty and incredibly salty. The vegetables included baby carrots and broccoli swimming in butter accompanied the steak. The sweet honey butter cinnamon biscuits they bring you are like dessert and yet we saw many patrons ordering multiple baskets of these. May as well eat some donuts. My salad was the grilled chicken salad with egg, cheese, red onion, croutons and bacon atop a gigantic bowl of iceberg. Mmmm. The "bacon" atop this salad looked like mr chef in the kitchen dropped the jar of bacon bits on my salad, the kind that are on the shelf at the grocery store. The chicken was incredibly salty and inedible. There was nothing on the menu that was even remotely healthy. Even the grilled shrimp on the menu was served smothered in butter. I had a margarita. Again tasted like overly sweet juice with no tequila. Didn't finish this. Our waiter was efficient I'll give them that.

When visiting my family for the holidays, we decided to go out for a nice steak dinner. Instead of going to the familiar favorite Outback, we opted for something new and ended up at the Texas Roadhouse, conveniently located next to Cracker Barrel in Cape Girardeau and within a stone's throw of Highway 55. When we walked in, we saw some people waiting to be seated, which immediately gave us pause for concern since we were hungry and didn't feel like waiting for a half hour to get a table. We were told the wait would be about 15 minutes, but ended up being less than 10, which suited us just fine. While we waited we ate some peanuts, which were provided in miniature galvanized pails. We were also treated to country music playing over the speakers, which added a certain "down-home" ambiance that my parents seemed to like, though I would have been just as happy with silence. The menu here is definitely arranged around a certain laid-back, casual type of clientele, offering items like a "roadkill' burger and an assortment of fried appetizers. They also offer hot rolls with a honey/butter mixture, which was a nice touch and a bit more satisfying than simple slices of bread. The salad we had was satisfactory, though the caesar salad really looked quite plain and boring and only had a couple of croutons. Still, it tasted good and gave us something to munch on while waiting for our main course. The beer selection here is plentiful, though if you're looking for an imported lager or ale you'll be sorely disappointed. They have several flavors of Bud, Miller, and Michelob as well as Sam Adams, which I decided to try. It came in a big ol' tall mug, which prompted no argument from me and gave me something with which to wash down my buttered rolls. There appeared to be a small bar, though I couldn't tell if they offered cocktails as well as beer. I ordered the prime rib, which was a 12-oz cut, medium rare. The steak was very tender, though a tad heavy on the seasoning. I really do like to taste my meat, but feel as though this one had been slightly manipulated a bit. It was good - but different from a more 'naked' presentation you'll find at Outback and other steakhouses. The only minor complaint I have is that the amount of horseradish and dressing I received was insufficient for the amount of food I had to pair it with. They use little plastic cups but for some reason they were only partially filled, which left me scraping the bottom and wanting a bit more. I suppose they could be trying to cut costs, but really - how hard is it to fill up a cup to the top with dressing or horseradish? This minor quibble aside, this was an overall good experience. I still am not sure if I would go here instead of the Outback, but it's close enough in quality and price that I would definitely consider it. Bottom line: If you like country music, steak, and big beers the Texas Roadhouse could be right up your alley.

On a busy Saturday night, I (unexpectedly) had the best sirloin of my life! For someone that has been to steakhouses all over the country, the last place I expected a decent (let alone fantastic) steak was a chain steakhouse in Cape Girardeau. The country music was a little loud, but not overpowering. The birthday "celebrations" were definitely loud and I could have done without having the girl announcing the birthday to the whole restaurant screaming in my ear. The experience overall was an enjoyable one with a very friendly server (insert name here), great food, good service time and a comfortable atmosphere! I will definitely be going back! ***tip*** get there a few minutes earlier than you normally would for dinner...there was a long line at about 5:45pm!

This place is amazing! I had the sirloin and it was cooked to perfection! Staff and waitress was quick on her toes and did everything she could please us. I will return here if I'm ever traveling through again.

I thought that going into the Non-smoking meant that you didn't have to deal with the 2nd hand smoke during each bite. And the chicken shouldn't be fried so much that it is dried out and hard to bite into. The replacement chicken was the same...won't be visiting the Cape G. In Mo. Ever again

The family and I hit the Roadhouse today for lunch. The snakebites are a favorite appetizer for us, but we passed on the extra today. The salads were good. I had the kabob which is very tasty...also, at the table was the salmon (a bit salty for my taste), pulled pork (very good), and the baked potatoes looked awesome. The only drawback I have when going to the Roadhouse is the music is too danged loud! Maybe I'm just getting older, but I like to be able to have a conversation over the meal! :) Otherwise, good stuff!

Love the bread they give you as an appetizer but if it wasn't for that, this place would bomb ...

It's okay--nothing spectacular and I wouldn't care if I ever returned. I ordered some kind of grilled chicken that came slathered in brown gravy and mushrooms. It wasn't unpleasant, just kind of bland. I also ordered a baked sweet potato which was pretty good. I suppose the "allure" of this restaurant is the prescriptive fun atmosphere. There are buckets of of peanuts in which the diner can toss the shells ((I don't sit amongst garbage at home, why would I want to pay for the experience), blaring country music, and loud birthday introductions. I think this establishment would certainly appeal to middle school kids; I just don't see the appeal.
